Frequently Asked
Questions & Answers:
Q: What happens during a Synergy session?
A: A Synergy session begins with a brief intake where you will
discuss your reasons for coming, and have any questions you may have about this type of therapy answered. After intake we may decide to move to the treatment table. You will not need to undress as this is not a massage. The Synergist will begin by placing their hands gently on your body, typically beginning at your head and/or feet. When they do this they are listening to
your body; it is this listening touch that naturally reflects and
heightens your inner experience and awareness.
Q: Are touching and talking going on at the same time?
A: Yes ... much of the time. The Synergist will usually begin a session with talk and touch that gently helps direct your awareness inward. As a session proceeds both you and the Synergist explore your mind/body consciousness; it is your unique experiences and awarenesses that guide the session. The Synergist’s role is to facilitate awareness and to act as witness and ground for your experience in the moment.
Q: How many sessions will be required?
A: There is no fixed amount.
Rubenfeld Synergy is a powerful educational paradigm, teaching you to better communicate and listen to self. Emotions, “feelings”, ones you possibly stored away and/or held back for various reasons, often emerge during a session. These feelings that “bubble up” gift you and your body with a deep awareness – as well as help to release the physical/energetic constrictions in the body connected to these emotions. Integrating the wisdom of the body into consciousness and freeing the body from held, stuck energy, can help you move through your life with more ease, authenticity, creativity, and wholeness.
How quickly, how deeply, and what issues and intentions a client brings to therapy will determine the number of sessions.
For example, clients with long-held issues and early traumatic experiences may want to schedule regular sessions over a
longer period of time, than those coming with intentions of
looking at a recent event in their life, or for assistance with their personal growth process.
It is recommended a new client receive at least a few sessions, scheduled fairly close together (i.e., weekly, bi-weekly) to gain an understanding of the process, and see if this therapy is right for them.
Q: How long do Synergy sessions take?
A: Sessions generally last 60 minutes; initial sessions run 90 minutes. Scheduling your appointment with some time available
to relax after you leave the office is ideal.
